Keep up to date with that we're doing!
We have begun our theme this term well with a mixture of debating, recount writing and a quizzes; all of these have contributed greatly to developing our understanding of the concept of feast and famine.
In English we have been planning and writing recounts based on scenarios involving feast and/or famine. Not only have we looked at examples of recounts, but we have acted out short plans of recounts in group. Our immersion in to the genre of recount writing has been successful as the children have begun to produce excellent pieces of writing which display both their developing writing abilities and their understanding of feast and famine. In our PSHE and circle time we have been debating our how to resolve the problem of famine in the world. Our debate wall in class has been gradually filling up with more opinions from the children and their ability to back-up their opinions with evidence has been very good. Finally, we tested our knowledge of our new theme through a quiz, finding and answering questions scattered across the school premises. The questions were based on different topics, such as history, geography and music, and we had great gun developing our understanding of feast and famine across a range of categories. We look forward to the rest of our theme!
