Keep up to date with that we're doing!
Owls have been busy this week designing, making and evaluating Christmas biscuits. Things got a little messy but certainly ended up being delicious!

It was an absolute pleasure to share our theme learning recently with family and friends. We measured ingredients and mixed them together to create potions. Linked to this we were observing the changes in states of matter. As well as seeing some brilliant changes, it got a little messy!
Our last Mini Marines session was very tasty! We learnt how to build a fire and were extremely lucky to then roast a marshmallow on the fire. We discussed the reasons for why we would build a fire, how to be safe near one and how to put a fire out. We'd like to thank the Mini Marines team who have made our experiences each week very enjoyable.
We visited Tewkesbury Abbey to learn more about our local history, in particular the history of such an iconic local landmark. Using our historian mindsets, we explored the hidden secrets that the Abbey has to offer and compared them to the ones we learnt about at Gloucester Cathedral. The class asked some fantastic questions and we found out many facts about the Abbey that we never knew about!
Today in tag rugby we focused on our team skills and ball handling skills. To start with, we got in to pairs with one of us blindfolded whilst the other communicated how to navigate the 'minefield' of cones.
After that, we got into a large circle and played a couple of games that involved us listening to instructions that linked to catching and passing the ball correctly. Our science lessons are now focusing on the topic of sound! We started our new topic by learning about how sound is made and then discussed how we could test how loud different objects are.
We've been continuing our tag rugby sessions with Gloucester Rugby Football Club and we are still very much enjoying it! This week we really focused on developing our knowledge of playing tag rugby, in particular moving forward with the ball whilst passing backwards.
In our Maths Learning Together session we shared problem solving activities and strategies with our parents. We had great fun exploring different problems, which really tested our problem solving skills!
Thank you very much to the parents who came. We have been very busy looking at different topics linked to our Anti-Bullying week. Our activities have included: discussing bullying scenarios; defining what a bystander and discussing how to overcome such a situation; grouping examples of social media comments into 'Possibly bullying' and 'Not bullying' categories. We really have developed a better understanding of why it's important to stand as one against bullying.
Our Mini Marines lesson focused on the use of first aid. We discussed what classified as a ‘dangerous’ situation in which we would possibly need to use some form of first aid. Following on, we highlighted the need to respond correctly to a situation, check people’s air ways and ensure that they are breathing. In small groups we practiced the CPR technique and putting people in the recovery position.
