Keep up to date with that we're doing!
During our science lesson we observed how materials cooled. In small groups we looked at ice and described its properties. In addition, we considered what other liquids could freeze as effectively as water. We tested different liquids including: washing up liquid, milk, lemonade and squash.

During our session in Life Space we spent time learning about the topic 'It's Great to be Me!' We learnt about what we need to live a healthy life and how important it is to look after ourselves.
We visited Gloucester Cathedral to not only explore the history and religion of the magnificent building, but to experience the Harry Potter magic left by the filming that occurred. Please enjoy the photos below of our brilliant day. During week 5 of Mini Marines, we put our team work skills to the test by building aqueducts. Each team was given a set of bamboo sticks, gutters and tape. We used our communication and problem solving skills to complete the challenge, which was very fun!
We have been learning about earthquakes in geography; not only how magical the process of an earthquake is, but also how deadly it can be too!
As a class, we practised the 'drop, cover, hold' technique to get a sense of what to do in the unfortunate case of an earthquake. During Mini Marines this week we took on an assault course! The course was filled with a range of exercises and obstacles that challenged our mental and physical strengths. We also used our team work skills to build a tent without any instructions and to compete in a game of tug of war! We brought our model text alive this week by applying actions to key words and reciting each word off by heart!
This week in Mini Marines we really pushed ourselves! Bodyweight circuits not only challenged us physically but mentally too! We undertook a range of bodyweight exercises and completed several repetitions of each with varying time limtis in between them. Needless to say, we were tired but feeling successful!
In maths we have been focusing on using concrete resources to learn about place value. Place values counters have certainly been our best friends this week as we have been using them to explore the thousands place value.
Our second Mini Marines session focused on developing the ideas of having SMART targets and working as a team. First, we discussed and wrote down life goals/targets, but we thought about how we would achieve them. Next, we completed several outdoor games which involved working as a team to push ourselves and succeed. All of the class were brilliant in the session!
